Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding Engine Oil Grades

Letters and numbers are used to denote the various grades of engine oil. These symbols represent the oil’s viscosity and its performance properties. It’s critical to select the proper grade of oil for your TVS Apache RTR to ensure optimum engine efficiency.

1. What Do the Numbers Mean?

The viscosity of an engine oil is indicated by the grade’s numbers. The oil’s viscosity at low temperatures is indicated by the first number, which is followed by the letter “W” (which stands for winter). The oil flows better in cold temperatures the lower the number. The oil’s viscosity at higher temperatures is indicated by the second number. The oil maintains its thickness at high temperatures if the second number is higher.

The suggested engine oil grade for the TVS Apache RTR is 10W-30. This grade ensures smooth starts in cold weather and dependable lubrication at high operating temperatures by providing good performance across a wide temperature range.

It is simple to change the engine oil in your TVS Apache RTR. Here is a how-to manual that will walk you through the process:

Gather Supplies: The new engine oil (make sure it’s the right grade and amount), a new oil filter, a drain pan, and simple hand tools are required.

Warm Up the Engine: Start the motorbike, and let it run for a while to allow the engine to warm up just a bit. Oil drains more quickly when it is warm.

Drain the Oil: To drain the old oil, set the drain pan below the engine and carefully pry off the drain bolt from the oil pan. Replace the old oil filter after removing it as well. Oil drains more quickly when it is warm.

Install the New Oil Filter: The rubber gasket of the new oil filter should be covered with a thin layer of fresh oil. Then, manually screw the new oil filter into position.

Refill with New Oil: Using a funnel if necessary, pour the new engine oil into the oil filler hole. For guidance on how much oil to add, consult your owner’s manual.

Check Oil Level: Allow the oil to settle in the engine after filling it. Then, use the dipstick to check the oil level.

Dispose of Old Oil Properly: Keep in mind to properly dispose of the spent oil and oil filter at a recycling facility or another permitted disposal location.
